Sales Director Public Sector (d/w/m)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Sales Director to lead their public sector business development efforts in Berlin. In this role, you will:

• Lead and manage the public sector sales team, providing both strategic direction and hands-on coaching
• Partner with senior sales leadership to refine go-to-market strategy for the public sector segment, owning revenue targets, growth objectives, and market positioning
• Guide your team through complex procurement processes and contract negotiations, remaining closely involved in critical opportunities from initial outreach through closure
• Drive team development and scaling of the SaaS portfolio based on segment strategy and business objectives
• Support partner management activities with resellers, distributors, system integrators, and maintain executive-level relationships
• Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure smooth implementation and sustained client satisfaction
• Work with product management and marketing to develop positioning and market entry strategies for the public sector
• Deliver forecasts, market analyses, and strategic insights to senior leadership

What We're Looking For

• Minimum five years of experience in business development, sales, or key account management with leadership responsibility, ideally in SaaS or technology environments
• Proven experience selling to public sector organizations with deep understanding of procurement processes, regulatory frameworks, and decision-making structures within government agencies
• Track record building and leading sales teams with demonstrated ability to develop talent and align teams around shared goals
• Strong understanding of SaaS business models, cloud technologies, and digital transformation processes, along with experience in agile methodologies and modern collaboration frameworks
• Degree in business, STEM, or equivalent qualification
• German and English language proficiency at C1 level or higher
• Based in or willing to relocate to Berlin
