REMOTE Role Flight Control Laws (CLaws) Expert

Responsibilities

Our talent team is representing a confidential aerospace organization seeking a Flight Control Laws expert for a remote position based in Canada. In this role, you will:

• Develop and refine flight control law designs and corresponding assessment tools using MATLAB and C++ programming
• Support autopilot and navigation design development for research and development projects
• Develop control law and systems requirements from aircraft-level specifications
• Perform requirements validation and verification (V&V) for control law updates and new designs
• Verify and deliver control laws in accordance with DO-178B and SAE ARP 4754 standards
• Design pilot-in-the-loop control laws based on handling quality requirements, flight envelope protection, and performance specifications
• Evaluate control law and fly-by-wire system failures, stability, and performance through analytical methods, desktop simulations, pilot-in-the-loop simulator tests, and flight test data analysis
• Support integration of control laws into various test rigs and supplier hardware platforms

What We're Looking For

We are seeking candidates with:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering (PhD preferred)
• Minimum 10 years of experience developing Flight Control Laws for fly-by-wire aircraft
• Strong expertise in aircraft flight dynamics with in-depth understanding of aerodynamics
• Proficiency in classical and modern control systems design techniques for SISO and MIMO systems
• Familiarity with advanced control law techniques and methods
• Strong understanding of control law evaluation techniques, including linear and non-linear testing procedures
• Knowledge of aircraft stability, handling qualities, and pilot-in-the-loop control
• Understanding of DO-178B standards, system requirements verification and validation methods, and certification of complex software
• Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink for simulation, aircraft/system modeling, and control law development
• Understanding of state estimation and Kalman filtering techniques
• Proficiency in MATLAB scripting and C++ programming
• Fluency in written and spoken French and English
• Team player with an innovative spirit, self-motivated, and able to work independently
