Remote National Medical Director

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare organization in their search for a Remote National Medical Director based in Macao. Our client is seeking an experienced physician leader to provide medical oversight and strategic direction for utilization management, quality improvement, and care coordination initiatives.

This is a senior medical leadership role where you'll partner with executive leadership to drive clinical quality, cost-effectiveness, and member outcomes across the organization's programs.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate medical management, quality improvement, and credentialing functions for the business unit
• Provide medical leadership for utilization management, cost containment, and quality improvement activities
• Perform medical review for complex, controversial, or experimental services, ensuring timely and quality decision-making
• Support performance improvement initiatives for capitated providers and network development
• Conduct regular rounds to assess and coordinate care for high-risk patients in collaboration with care management teams
• Collaborate with clinical teams, network providers, and appeals teams on complex cases and medical necessity determinations
• Assist in planning goals and policies to improve quality and cost-effectiveness of care and services
• Develop and implement physician education programs on clinical issues and organizational policies
• Identify and evaluate utilization trends, provider practice patterns, and clinical quality improvement opportunities
• Interface with physicians and providers to implement recommendations that improve utilization and healthcare quality
• Review claims involving complex or unusual services to determine medical necessity and appropriate payment
• Represent the organization at state committees and professional forums as needed

What We're Looking For

• Medical Degree: MD or DO required
• Board Certification: in a medical specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialists or American Osteopathic Association
• Licensure: Current state license as MD or DO without restrictions, limitations, or sanctions from government programs
• Active Practice: Currently practicing medicine
• Preferred Certifications: Active certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Preferred Experience: Utilization management experience, knowledge of quality accreditation standards, and experience treating culturally diverse populations
• Beneficial Background: Coursework in health administration, health financing, insurance, or personnel management
• Availability: May be required to work weekends and holidays in support of business operations
