About the Role

As a Registered Nurse on our Ortho Neuro Surgical Trauma unit at Ascension Via Christi in Wichita, you'll care for patients recovering from orthopedic and neurological surgical procedures. Working the night shift, you'll provide direct nursing care, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with surgeons, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective recovery and excellent clinical outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct patient care and monitoring for post-operative orthopedic and neurological trauma patients
• Assess and document patient status, vital signs, wound care, and pain management needs
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians
• Respond promptly to patient needs and address complications or concerns during night shift hours
• Communicate effectively with the surgical team, physicians, and ancillary staff
• Educate patients and families about care, recovery, and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic health records and nursing documentation
• Uphold infection control, safety, and quality standards throughout your shift

What We're Looking For

• Current Kansas RN license (or ability to obtain licensure)
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Experience or willingness to learn orthopedic and neurological nursing care
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care
• Ability to work night shift and adapt to the surgical intensive care environment
