Role Overview
As Program Chair for Educator Preparation Programs at WGU, you'll provide strategic leadership and academic oversight for one or more educator preparation initiatives. In this full-time position based in Salt Lake City, UT, you'll champion program quality, drive student success, and collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to strengthen teacher preparation.
What You'll Do
- Lead curriculum development, review, and continuous improvement aligned with accreditation standards and industry best practices
- Supervise and mentor faculty within the educator preparation program, fostering professional development and teaching excellence
- Oversee student advising, program outcomes assessment, and academic performance tracking
- Manage program budgets, resources, and operational efficiency
- Coordinate practicum placements, student teaching partnerships, and school district collaborations
- Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements and regulatory standards
- Recruit, hire, and evaluate teaching faculty and instructional staff
- Analyze program data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for enhancement
Who We're Looking For
- Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (or equivalent advanced qualification)
- 5+ years of experience in higher education, teacher preparation, or K-12 education leadership
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, program development, and outcomes assessment
- Knowledge of teacher licensure, accreditation standards (such as CAEP or NCATE), and educator preparation best practices
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships
- Experience managing budgets, staff, and complex projects
- Passion for educator development and commitment to fostering inclusive, high-quality teacher preparation
