Product Manager – Payroll

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential global HR-tech organization seeking a Product Manager - Payroll based in China. Our client builds workforce management technology that enables companies to manage international teams through streamlined payroll, compliance, and HR operations.

This is a strategic product role owning the payroll calculation and reporting infrastructure. You'll partner with engineering, operations, and payroll teams to eliminate manual processes, improve accuracy, and build scalable systems that serve customers across multiple countries.

Responsibilities

• Own product strategy and roadmap for payroll calculation and reporting systems from discovery through delivery and iteration
• Lead cross-functional discovery with payroll operations and partner teams to identify bottlenecks, prevent errors, and build customer trust
• Partner with engineering and design in a collaborative triad model, facilitating problem discovery and solution design
• Improve how payroll calculation issues, reporting gaps, and partner connectivity problems are surfaced and resolved
• Ensure payroll outputs are accurate, clear, and understandable across all supported countries
• Build and maintain country-specific payroll and compliance knowledge, keeping systems current as regulations change
• Maintain robust connectivity across payroll partner integrations, ensuring reliable data flows and downstream reporting

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years in product management, with experience owning complex B2B SaaS or HR-tech/fintech products in payroll, compliance, integrations, or financial operations
• Strong product fundamentals with a focus on managing outcomes, not just backlogs
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills—you drive clarity and alignment across teams
• Experience with platform-level products involving data models, integrations, and cross-service dependencies
• Strong operational instinct connecting payroll accuracy, reporting reliability, and partner connectivity to customer outcomes
• You define success metrics before scoping and iterate based on performance data
• Comfortable navigating ambiguous, cross-functional environments and creating structure where needed
• Experience working in high-trust, autonomous teams with access to customers and clear business goals
• Ability to leverage AI tools effectively while maintaining sound product judgment
• Hands-on experience with payroll partner integrations or global compliance data is a strong advantage
