Product Engineer, Backend (Rust)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a well-funded AI safety organization building policy enforcement infrastructure for AI systems. This confidential client processes over 100 million API calls monthly and operates production LLM infrastructure. We're seeking a Product Engineer, Backend (Rust) to join their technical team in Paris.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Rust backend services handling real-time policy checks at scale
• Own features end-to-end including API design, schema development, deployment, and monitoring
• Improve performance and reliability through connection pooling, caching, query optimization, and observability tooling
• Collaborate directly with product and research teams to deliver high-impact features

What We're Looking For

• Production experience with Rust, Python, or Go
• Comfortable with async Rust using Tokio, web frameworks like Axum or Actix, and PostgreSQL including schema design, query optimization, and debugging
• Strong system design fundamentals with understanding of trade-offs, failure modes, and scaling approaches
• Willingness to relocate to Paris (hybrid work model)

Technical Stack: Rust, Tokio, Axum/Actix, PostgreSQL

Bonus Experience: ClickHouse, Redis, Kafka, LLM infrastructure (routing, inference, RAG), or high-throughput monitoring systems

Pay

This position does not include direct compensation through Get A Job.ai. Salary and equity compensation will be negotiated directly with the client during the interview process. Our client has indicated a salary range of $80K–$150K USD with equity, and higher figures may be negotiable for exceptional candidates.
