Privacy and AI Counsel, EMEA

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential legal technology organization that is expanding its EMEA operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join an in-house legal team during a period of significant growth, working on cutting-edge privacy matters at the intersection of AI and data protection.

Our client is seeking a Privacy and AI Counsel based in London to help shape privacy practices across the region. You'll work alongside senior privacy leadership and collaborate with commercial, product, engineering, and security teams to ensure robust data protection compliance in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate Data Processing Agreements with customers, subprocessors, service providers, and third parties
• Help develop, maintain, and scale global privacy programs including Data Protection Impact Assessments and Records of Processing
• Work cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to evaluate the impact of privacy and data protection laws on product development
• Monitor and respond to changes in privacy laws and regulations, including AI-specific regulations
• Support implementation and ongoing compliance with AI-specific regulation, including the EU AI Act and UK AI governance frameworks
• Assist in classification of AI systems, assessment of risk obligations, and development of internal AI governance controls, documentation, and processes
• Partner with legal, product, and compliance stakeholders on AI principles such as transparency, accountability, and human oversight

What We're Looking For

• Qualified lawyer with 4+ years of post-qualification experience in privacy and data protection
• Proven expertise in EU and U.S. data protection law, with familiarity across global compliance frameworks
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with confidence representing the organization on data privacy, AI, and security matters
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across legal and business teams
• Highly responsive and detail-oriented, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution
