Principal Investigator (Terrestrial Archaeology – Caribbean)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential cultural resources management organization seeking a Principal Investigator to lead terrestrial archaeology compliance projects across the Caribbean region. This is a remote position, with strong preference for candidates based in Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands.

The successful candidate will manage archaeological investigations, prepare technical documentation for federal and tribal agency review under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and NEPA, and develop client relationships within the cultural heritage sector. This role combines fieldwork oversight, technical writing, and strategic project management.

Responsibilities

• Lead cultural resource compliance studies and archaeological investigations in the Caribbean
• Develop reGet A Job.ai designs, field methodologies, and analytical protocols for archaeology projects
• Prepare thoroughly reGet A Job.aied resource evaluations according to National Register of Historic Places eligibility criteria (36 CFR §60.4)
• Manage fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and reporting within scope, budget, and schedule parameters
• Write high-quality technical reports and proposals for federal, state, and tribal agency review
• Develop and maintain client relationships; participate in business development activities
• Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior archaeological staff
• Develop and implement Health & Safety plans for assigned projects
• Ensure project delivery meets quality standards and deadline requirements
• Conduct primary reGet A Job.ai and prepare materials for publication or conference presentation

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Anthropology or closely related field
• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in field, laboratory, and office settings
• Meet Secretary of the Interior's professional qualifications standards for archaeology
• Current RPA certification or RPA-eligible status
• Strong Caribbean archaeological experience and regional expertise
• Deep knowledge of federal and local cultural resources laws and guidelines
• Demonstrated project and client management skills in a CRM environment
• Superior technical writing ability with proven track record producing defensible reports
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Agency permitting qualifications where required
• Must be eligible for employment in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current residence in Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands
• Broad understanding of the CRM industry at regional, national, and international levels
