Mechanical Design Engineer

Astonmartinf1 is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for its Silverstone base on a full-time basis. This position sits in the Driver Controls group of Mechanical Design and centres on delivering inventive mechanical work that directly lifts Formula One car performance.

What This Role Involves

You will own the end-to-end creation of mechanical parts and assemblies, starting from concept sketches, moving through detailed engineering and physical trials, then refining solutions for continuous gains. The work demands regular consultation with colleagues in neighbouring engineering disciplines so that finished items meet the exacting standards expected in competition while adhering to rapid development cycles.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate concepts and detailed models for mechanical components and sub-assemblies used in driver interface systems
• Supervise prototype builds and run thorough evaluation programmes to confirm functional integrity
• Examine test data, pinpoint shortcomings and introduce successive updates that raise durability and efficiency
• Partner with multi-discipline engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of new hardware
• Deliver polished designs on compressed timelines while safeguarding quality and precision

What We're Looking For

• Recognised degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent technical field
• Hands-on competence with professional CAD platforms for complex three-dimensional modelling
• Practical understanding of material choices, production routes and basic finite element techniques
• Prior exposure to high-accuracy mechanical projects, ideally in high-load or rapid-development contexts
• Clear communication and teamwork habits suited to fast-moving collaborative groups
• Ability to switch priorities smoothly and retain meticulous standards under schedule pressure
