Position Summary

As the Pet Welfare Assistant - On-site Services at Bluecross you will contribute daily to the welfare of animals waiting for homes at the Hertfordshire rehoming facility (Hitchin SG4 8EU). The contract runs for 14 hours per week and carries a salary of £9,990 per annum (£24,976 FTE). Applications close on Sunday 26th July 2026 with interview dates still to be arranged. Responsibilities

• Perform routine husbandry duties that keep animals clean, fed and comfortable throughout their stay
• Maintain hygienic kennels, catteries and common areas to protect health and reduce stress
• Supply appropriate exercise, enrichment and calm human contact for dogs, cats and other species
• Observe behaviour and physical condition, recording any changes for prompt veterinary attention
• Assist rehoming and fostering staff with introductions, preparations and daily updates
• Work alongside colleagues to ensure smooth running of all onsite services in Hertfordshire
