Senior Director of Marketing

Cornell is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Marketing to lead strategic marketing initiatives and advance the university's mission in Ithaca (Tompkins County). About the Role

As Senior Director of Marketing at Cornell, you'll direct comprehensive marketing campaigns and brand strategy across multiple platforms and audiences. This leadership role requires expertise in digital marketing, communications, and organizational strategy to elevate Cornell's presence and drive engagement with students, faculty, donors, and the broader community.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies aligned with Cornell's strategic priorities and institutional goals
• Lead cross-functional teams in the design, production, and launch of marketing campaigns across channels
• Oversee brand management, messaging, and visual identity to maintain consistency and impact
• Direct digital marketing efforts including website optimization, social media, email, and paid advertising
• Analyze market trends, audience insights, and campaign performance metrics to inform strategic decisions
• Manage marketing budgets and allocate resources to maximize impact and return on investment
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the university to align marketing with institutional objectives
• Build and mentor a high-performing marketing team to drive excellence and professional growth

What You Bring

• 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership capacity
• Proven track record developing and executing successful marketing strategies at organizational scale
• Deep expertise in digital marketing, brand strategy, and multi-channel campaign management
• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with the ability to measure and optimize campaign ROI
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities
• Demonstrated success leading, developing, and retaining high-performing marketing teams
• Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizational marketing preferred
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or related field
