Manager I, Engineering – Observability Pipelines (OP)

About the Role

We are representing a confidential observability technology organization seeking a Manager I, Engineering - Observability Pipelines in Paris. In this role, you'll lead people management and engineering execution for a vendor-agnostic telemetry pipeline product. You'll own one of the core product missions, including areas like integrations with diverse source and destination systems, streaming insights, cost control, or pipeline capabilities and scalability. This is a hybrid position that offers the opportunity to build your management craft while influencing technical direction in a fast-growing product area.

Responsibilities

• Own people management and engineering execution for your team
• Establish and maintain a strong operating rhythm across planning, execution, and stakeholder communication
• Drive high standards for on-call rotations and incident response
• Partner with Product leadership on roadmap strategy, balancing product priorities with technical realities
• Lead, coach, and grow the careers of engineers on your team
• Collaborate with peer engineering managers and senior individual contributors to define how the product operates and grows

What We're Looking For

• Direct experience managing engineers and owning a team's complete operating rhythm from end-to-end
• Technical background in distributed systems and data infrastructure
• Experience with on-premises or customer-installed software concepts
• Product-minded approach - you enjoy partnering with Product teams on strategy
• Experience with high-performance or Rust-based data pipeline systems
• Comfortable with incident ownership and on-call responsibilities
