Linux Platform Integration – Ubuntu Systems Senior Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open-source organization seeking a Linux Platform Integration - Ubuntu Systems Senior Engineer for a fully remote role. Our client works at the cutting edge of Linux systems, partnering with silicon manufacturers to optimize platform integration across server, desktop, and IoT environments. This position offers the chance to influence how Linux is adopted across multiple industries while working with next-generation hardware and software stacks.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Ubuntu integration solutions for IoT, desktop, and server-class hardware platforms
• Partner with technology vendors to deliver optimized Linux experiences on their platforms
• Take ownership of technical planning, testing strategy, and quality metrics for platform deployments
• Serve as technical lead on customer engagements involving complete system architectures from cloud to edge
• Support partners in integrating applications, SDKs, building device OS images, and optimizing applications across multiple Linux distributions
• Work across the full Linux stack from kernel through networking, virtualization, and graphics
• Collaborate on projects spanning diverse verticals including robotics, data centers, telecommunications, retail, and automotive

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or similar field
• Strong experience with Linux packaging systems (Debian, RPM, Yocto)
• Proven experience working with open source communities and licensing
• Proficiency in Python, C, and C++
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in globally distributed teams through self-discipline and self-motivation
• Passion for technology and collaborative problem-solving

Preferred:

• Experience with server technologies including UEFI firmware, GPU computing, RDMA/Infiniband, and virtualization stacks
• Graphics stack expertise
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTP/REST)
• Knowledge of security best practices in IoT or server environments
• Strong communication skills with public speaking experience
• IoT/embedded experience spanning board and SoC, BMCs, bootloaders, firmware, OS, and applications
• Experience with CI automation platforms such as GitHub
• Performance benchmarking and profiling experience
• Familiarity with Docker/OCI containers and Kubernetes
