Liability Claims Specialist

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential insurance technology client in their search for a Liability Claims Specialist. Our client is transforming the small commercial insurance space with innovative technology solutions. This is a 100% remote position available throughout the United States.

As the Liability Claims Specialist, you will play a key role in evolving the claims experience for both internal teams and external stakeholders. You'll handle commercial property and casualty claims of moderate severity and complexity, working closely with claims leadership to drive resolution strategy.

Core Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm in your US time zone. Travel required less than 5-10% for mediations, trials, and other proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement resolution strategies for Commercial Property and Casualty, General Liability, Property, and Professional Liability claims of moderate severity and complexity
• Investigate claims and review insureds' and claimants' materials, documents, and reports
• Identify and assess coverage issues, draft coverage position letters, and retain coverage counsel when necessary
• Analyze coverage and damages for estimating, assessing, and recommending reserves
• Maintain claim diaries, post reserves timely, and respond expeditiously to claims inquiries from insureds, counsel, underwriters, brokers, and senior management
• Negotiate claim resolutions and assist in developing and executing best practices
• Maintain vendor lists for field investigators, appraisers, experts, fraud investigators, and CAT alerts
• Maintain contact and oversight with TPA claim staff
• Collaborate with underwriting on appetite selection and form development
• Review applicable statutes, rules, and case law for each jurisdiction
• Direct risk transfer, subrogation/salvage action, additional insured issues, and contractual indemnity matters
• Retain and direct counsel in accordance with resolution strategy
• Prepare written and oral reports for senior management with reserve recommendations
• Coordinate with cross-functional team members on process, product, and enterprise initiatives

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• 5-7 years of work experience at an insurance company and/or insurance claims loss adjustment service provider resolving property and casualty claims
• Considerable working knowledge of insurance claims operations, particularly commercial property and casualty claims, policy construction, and ISO Commercial BOP forms
• Proper adjuster licensing in all applicable states
• Knowledge of legal concepts and processes
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, evaluation, negotiating, listening, and interpersonal skills
• Strong time management and organizational skills with keen attention to detail
• Ability to participate in active strategic discussions and synthesize day-to-day work into trends and opportunities
• Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities
• Team player with excellent collaboration skills, self-motivated and willing to take initiative
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

• College degree
• Previous experience supporting a business through rapid growth
• Experience with Quality Assurance, Continuous Process Improvement, User Experience, Design Thinking, Lean, Agile, Project Management, or Product Owner methodologies
• AIC and PTC designations
