About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential multi-divisional enterprise group undergoing a comprehensive transformation. This established organization is transitioning from a legal-entity structure to a market-oriented matrix organization with dedicated divisions and group functions. At the heart of this transformation is a group-wide management model that makes operational and financial value drivers measurable through key performance indicators, supported by a harmonized system landscape with a single source of truth.

We are seeking a Head of Group Controlling to lead this critical function during this pivotal phase. This role reports directly to the CFO and will shape controlling standards, KPI systems, and performance management across the entire organization.

Responsibilities

• Implement the group-wide management model with unified controlling standards, KPI systems (including ROCE, Operating Free Cash Flow), and consistent reporting structures
• Lead group-wide planning and management processes including strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, plan-actual analysis, and action tracking
• Develop controlling governance frameworks with binding standards, reporting requirements, and clear accountabilities across the group
• Build and expand business partnering capabilities within operational divisions to ensure consistent performance management and management information
• Provide decision-ready information for the board, CFO, and other leadership levels
• Oversee cost, investment, and profitability controlling including economic viability assessments and opportunity-risk analysis
• Advance controlling processes, data models, and system architecture with focus on automation, data quality, and transparency
• Provide leadership (both disciplinary and technical) for the Group Controlling team, Investment Controlling team, and Systems, Processes & Data Management team

What We're Looking For

• Successfully completed business degree with focus on controlling or finance, or comparable qualification
• Several years of proven leadership experience in controlling, ideally within matrix and group structures with both disciplinary and technical responsibility
• Experience developing controlling organizations, target operating models, or decentralized business partner structures, ideally in transformation contexts
• Knowledge of value-oriented management concepts such as ROCE or Free Cash Flow and their connection to operational management
• Strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA, ideally complemented by BI and reporting solutions as well as integrated planning processes
• Several years of experience in consulting environments, preferably as an auditor at a Big Four firm
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills with the ability not only to design change but to embed it within the organization
• Fluent in German and English
• Location: Köln with mobile working options

Pay
