Lead Devops Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential digital technology consultancy based in Scotland. Our client seeks a Lead DevOps Engineer to join their growing engineering practice, working on complex client transformation projects across cloud platforms and modern infrastructure.

This is a hybrid position requiring two days per week in either the Dundee, Glasgow, or London office.

Responsibilities

• Define technical architecture and strategy across multiple engineering squads, with emphasis on scalability and long-term maintainability
• Drive adoption of modern cloud infrastructure, intelligent automation, and AI-assisted development tools within delivery workflows
• Lead platform engineering initiatives including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code implementations
• Facilitate workshops with client stakeholders to discover requirements and translate business priorities into actionable technical roadmaps
• Establish and monitor key engineering metrics to guide continuous improvement across teams
• Ensure compliance with security standards including OWASP, GDPR, and SOC2 within cloud architectures
• Evaluate emerging technologies and tools through proof-of-concept work to inform go-to-market strategies
• Represent the organization at external technical events and contribute to thought leadership

What We're Looking For

• Broad generalist engineering background with strong knowledge across cloud platforms, CI/CD, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code
• Proven experience guiding technical direction and architecture for cloud and platform solutions
• Practical exposure to or genuine enthusiasm for integrating AI-assisted development tools or MLOps pipelines
• Strong mentorship capabilities with a track record of coaching engineers at various career stages
• Deep understanding of security, accessibility, and compliance standards in modern cloud environments
• Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Commitment to fostering inclusive, collaborative team dynamics that prioritize both delivery excellence and team wellbeing
• Familiarity with DORA metrics or similar frameworks for measuring engineering effectiveness

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process based on your experience level and the client's budget parameters.
