Join Wasteconnections as a Landfill Liquid Technician at our 4050-Chiquita Canyon Landfill facility. This full-time position is critical to our environmental and operational success, managing the treatment and control of landfill liquid systems that protect groundwater and community safety.

About This Position

As a Landfill Liquid Technician, you will operate, maintain, and monitor the leachate collection and treatment systems that are essential to landfill operations. You'll work hands-on with pumping equipment, storage tanks, and processing systems while adhering to strict environmental regulations. This role requires reliability, technical skill, and a commitment to safety in a dynamic industrial environment. You'll be based at our Santa Clarita location and may be required to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays as operational demands require.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor leachate pumping, collection, and treatment equipment according to operational protocols
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of liquid management systems and associated infrastructure
  • Test and record liquid levels, composition, and quality data; report findings to management
  • Perform equipment troubleshooting and coordinate repairs when needed
  • Maintain detailed logs and documentation of daily operations and maintenance activities
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and Wasteconnections safety standards
  • Support waste management operations and respond to emergency situations

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in environmental systems is a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate industrial equipment safely
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping abilities
  • Physical capability to work in outdoor, varying weather conditions
  • Willingness to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Commitment to environmental safety and regulatory compliance
