Interim CRO / Chief Restructuring Officer (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential restructuring advisory organization serving mid-market companies across German-speaking Europe. Our talent team is building a network of experienced interim executives who can step into crisis situations and drive turnaround initiatives when companies need decisive leadership most.

We're seeking seasoned Chief Restructuring Officers (CRO) and restructuring managers who can assume operational responsibility during transformation, turnaround, and crisis scenarios. As an interim executive in this network, you'll work closely with advisory partners and project teams, taking charge where rapid decisions, reliable financial data, and disciplined execution are critical.

Responsibilities

Depending on the mandate, you may assume responsibility for:

• Leading restructuring and turnaround situations at mid-market companies
• Developing and implementing comprehensive restructuring and remediation programs
• Ensuring liquidity and securing financing arrangements
• Managing integrated business planning and short-term liquidity forecasting
• Coordinating with banks, financing partners, shareholders, and other stakeholders
• Guiding companies through IDW S6, IBR, and near-insolvency situations
• Executing operational and financial restructuring measures
• Leading management teams and steering critical decision-making processes
• Assuming broad operational authority as mandates require

What We're Looking For

• Multiple years of experience as a CRO, restructuring manager, CFO in crisis situations, or restructuring consultant
• Proven track record in restructuring and turnarounds within the German mid-market
• Strong expertise in liquidity management, integrated planning, and financing
• Experience working with IDW S6/IBR frameworks and relevant restructuring stakeholders
• Execution-focused approach—you don't just analyze, you implement solutions alongside company teams
• Confident in engaging with C-suite executives, shareholders, banks, and financing partners
• Willingness to maintain substantial on-site presence at client locations
• Native-level German proficiency and very strong English skills
• Availability for project-based engagements as an independent interim manager

Pay

Compensation is determined on a per-mandate basis and reflects your experience level, availability, and the specific engagement requirements. Day rates are negotiated individually.
