About This Opportunity
Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential fusion energy organization seeking a Cryogenics Engineer (f/m/d) in Darmstadt, Germany. Our client is advancing commercially viable fusion power solutions and requires an experienced engineer to lead thermal and fluid system simulation efforts for their next-generation energy platform.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end simulation and analysis for cryogenic thermal and fluid systems, from problem definition through model development, validation, and continuous improvement
- Lead analytical approaches for new challenges, applying first-principles research to create pioneering solutions
- Drive model validation through collaboration with experimental engineers, comparing simulation outputs to test data and closing performance gaps
- Support hardware decisions with robust quantitative analysis across all cryogenic system components
- Develop integrated thermal and fluid analysis packages for commercial-scale systems, conducting optimization and sensitivity studies
- Continuously refine analysis models as new experimental, materials, and system data become available
- Partner with hardware engineers, experimentalists, and scientists to define system requirements and deliver actionable design analyses
- Provide the analytical foundation for the team's technical roadmap, guiding what gets built, tested, and scaled
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years' experience (or equivalent PhD research) in integrated thermal and fluid analysis involving cryogenic systems; experience with hydrogen is preferred
- MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
- Strong foundation in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
- Proficiency in thermal analysis software such as Thermal Desktop or COMSOL, with ability to anchor analyses to real hardware
- Familiarity with hydrogen systems, vacuum systems, cryogenic technologies, and phase change in solids, liquids, and gases
- Experience with instrumentation, sensors, and control logic for temperature, pressure, and flow in cryogenic environments
- Hands-on experience with test rig construction, system debugging, and low-temperature measurements to support model validation is a plus
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and coordinate effectively with multiple engineering and science teams
