About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential consultancy client in the UK who is seeking an Innovative Project Planner to join their growing team. Our client specializes in delivering high-value construction projects across data centres, infrastructure, and complex buildings, with a strong emphasis on digital transformation and planning excellence.

This is a hybrid role based in London, offering genuine flexibility while maintaining hands-on involvement in some of the most technically demanding construction environments in the world. You'll work across sectors including data centres, infrastructure (rail, highways, defense), advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and complex building projects valued between £1m and £1bn+.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain project plans for one or more construction projects, ensuring teams work effectively to the schedule and delays are mitigated and managed commercially
  • Translate project strategies and tactics into logic-linked plans using planning software and advanced analysis techniques
  • Provide clear, actionable reports to stakeholders at all levels that improve delivery efficiency and effectiveness
  • Drive stakeholder understanding and focus on the plan, influencing construction teams to adopt best approaches regardless of resistance
  • Develop scalable and repeatable best practices, tools, and solutions in collaboration with the planning team to achieve long-term impact
  • Contribute to knowledge repositories and digital solutions that improve industry-wide delivery standards
  • Support the professional development of team members and educate clients on planning excellence

What We're Looking For

Essential requirements:

  • At least 2+ years of experience on construction projects with a construction engineering background
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, both software tools and planning principles
  • Strong Excel skills and genuine interest in data analysis
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English with the charisma and influence to drive change in construction teams
  • Proactive leadership capabilities – you lead yourself and others by asking the right questions and challenging the status quo
  • Track record of implementing scalable, repeatable solutions that had significant positive impact beyond basic responsibilities

This role is not suitable if you:

  • Prefer low-challenge, minimal-pressure environments
  • Are uncomfortable receiving continuous, candid feedback
  • Prefer working independently rather than collaboratively with a team
