Graduate Design Engineer, Water-Wastewater

TKDA is looking for a Graduate Design Engineer, Water-Wastewater to join its Bloomington, Hennepin County office on a full‑time basis. In this entry‑level engineering role you will support the planning and design of water and wastewater systems that serve municipalities throughout Minnesota and the surrounding region.

About the Role

As part of TKDA’s Water/Wastewater group, you will work alongside licensed engineers and project managers to develop civil infrastructure solutions that protect public health and the environment. The position offers hands‑on experience with a variety of municipal projects, from treatment plant upgrades to storm‑water conveyance.

What You'll Do

• Assist senior engineers in preparing design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for water distribution and sanitary sewer projects.
• Perform hydraulic calculations using industry‑standard software such as EPANET, InfoWater, or similar tools.
• Conduct field visits to gather site data, verify existing conditions, and support construction observation.
• Help prepare permit applications and coordinate with regulatory agencies including MPCA and local watershed districts.
• Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and client communications throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and adhere to TKDA’s quality control procedures.

What We're Looking For

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering discipline (or pending graduation).
• Fundamental knowledge of water supply, wastewater collection, and storm‑water management principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and willingness to learn specialized modeling and drafting software.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for interacting with clients, contractors, and public officials.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
