GNC Engineer H/F

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential defense technology organization based in Paris that is building next-generation autonomous aerial systems. Our client is expanding their Guidance, Navigation & Control team and we're seeking experienced engineers who thrive in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.

This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomous systems from initial design through operational deployment, with regular field testing and direct collaboration with end users.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for autonomous aerial platforms
• Develop and maintain flight dynamics models and vehicle simulations
• Contribute to system architecture decisions, control strategies, and performance trade-off analysis from early design phases
• Integrate and tune GNC software on target hardware platforms
• Participate in flight-test campaigns and operational validation exercises
• Analyze flight data, investigate anomalies, and drive continuous performance improvements
• Collaborate closely with software engineers, AI specialists, systems engineers, and operators to validate solutions under real operational conditions

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Guidance, Navigation & Control, flight control, robotics, or autonomous systems
• Strong algorithm development skills with proficiency in two or more of: MATLAB & Simulink, Python, C/C++
• Solid systems engineering capabilities with prior experience in aerospace verification and validation processes
• Willingness and ability to participate in field testing and work directly on deployed systems
• Strong analytical skills, engineering rigor, and ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
• Based in or willing to relocate to Paris

Preferred:

• Embedded software development experience
• Familiarity with open source flight control software stacks
• Advanced programming skills in C++ and Python
• Hands-on experience with UAVs, robotics, or autonomous systems
• Knowledge of ROS/ROS2 or real-time embedded systems
• Experience with state estimation, sensor fusion, or navigation algorithms
