About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential software consultancy seeking a Senior Full Stack and Backend Node.js Engineer to join their growing development team. This remote position is based in Panama and offers the chance to work on challenging, high-impact projects for diverse clients across multiple industries.

The ideal candidate will be a backend-focused engineer with strong full stack capabilities, comfortable working with modern cloud infrastructure and multi-tenant architectures. You'll contribute to meaningful projects that require both technical excellence and a client-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop low-latency API services in AWS environments
• Build and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and integrate SDKs with third-party services
• Implement secure multi-tenant architectures with proper data isolation
• Work with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security implementations
• Write raw SQL queries and manage schema migrations using tools like node-pg-migrate
• Contribute to frontend development with React when needed
• Write comprehensive integration tests against real databases and perform fault-injection testing
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application deployment
• Leverage AI coding assistants as part of your daily development workflow
• Collaborate with team members and take ownership of deliverables

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional software development experience with a backend focus
• Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Proven experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Demonstrated ability to build scalable RESTful APIs and SDK integrations
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Proficiency writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations
• Professional experience with React for frontend work
• Strong testing practices, including integration and fault-injection testing
• Experience using AI coding assistants in daily development
• CI/CD creation and maintenance skills
• Bachelor's degree required
• Ability to overlap with US business hours
• Extreme ownership mentality with strong attention to detail
• Client-focused approach with excellent problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with append-only, event-sourced, or bitemporal data models
• Familiarity with Fastify and schema-first validation frameworks like Zod
• Experience running containerized services on AWS Fargate/ECS
• Background in compliance-sensitive or audit-heavy domains such as fintech or telecom
