About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential e-commerce client in Walldorf who is building out their finance function during a period of significant growth. This is not a traditional bookkeeping role—our client is automating invoice processing, payment reconciliation, and reporting using AI-based workflows, and they need someone who wants to shape those systems alongside managing core finance operations.

The role combines hands-on controlling and reporting with process improvement. You'll work directly with the leadership team and IT to build the financial infrastructure that supports rapid expansion in a competitive online marketplace.

This position is based in Walldorf with occasional remote work possible after onboarding. The role requires regular in-person collaboration with leadership and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine financial processes and the underlying systems in collaboration with leadership and IT
• Build controlling and reporting frameworks: create dashboards, KPIs, and planning tools that management and departments rely on
• Establish liquidity planning and rolling forecasts as standard routines
• Analyze working capital, including payment terms and costs associated with payment providers
• Serve as the finance point of contact for the management team
• Liaise with suppliers on rejected invoices, account reconciliations, and other clarifications
• Investigate unclear invoices and payments; analyze recurring error patterns to eliminate them permanently
• Collaborate with the external tax advisor on monthly and annual closings and ongoing accounting matters

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in business administration, business informatics, finance, or comparable qualification
• A problem-solving mindset: you want to understand why a process fails rather than manually correcting symptoms repeatedly
• Technical aptitude, strong Excel skills, and enthusiasm for building your own reports and AI-supported solutions
• Some exposure to controlling, accounting, or finance—through internships, working student roles, or similar experience
• Proactive communication style; comfortable clarifying issues directly with internal teams, suppliers, and advisors
• Fluent German in writing and speaking
• Structured work approach and perseverance
