Facilities Technician III

Position Summary

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems including HVAC, electrical panels, plumbing, lighting, and structural elements at the Des Moines Corporate Office
• Diagnose and resolve complex facility issues using industry tools, diagnostic equipment, and root-cause analysis
• Respond promptly to work orders and emergency maintenance calls to minimize downtime
• Conduct routine inspections of mechanical rooms, life-safety equipment, and common areas to identify needed repairs
• Document all work completed in the maintenance tracking system and update asset records accurately
• Collaborate with vendors and contractors during specialized repairs or capital projects while ensuring quality oversight
• Support energy-efficiency initiatives and recommend improvements that reduce operational costs
• Follow all safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and corporate compliance standards
• Assist with space setups, furniture moves, and minor construction modifications as required
• Mentor junior technicians and share best practices for facilities care

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Facilities Technician or related building-maintenance role, with progressive responsibility at a senior or Level III level
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical circuits up to typical commercial voltages, plumbing, and general carpentry
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Proficiency with common hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and basic diagnostic software
• Solid understanding of OSHA safety rules and workplace hazard identification
• Effective communication and customer-service skills for interacting with employees and external partners
• Physical capability to lift moderately heavy materials, climb ladders, and work in varied environments including mechanical spaces
• Reliable attendance and willingness to respond to after-hours calls when needed for critical facility support in Des Moines
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant trade certifications or technician licenses preferred but not required if experience is strong
