About the Role
As Assistant Head Custodian, you'll manage daily custodial operations and provide direct supervision to assigned maintenance staff. You'll work closely with your building's Principal, Building Manager, or Zone Trainer to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming school environments across our district. This role bridges hands-on maintenance work with leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for experienced custodians seeking growth.
What You'll Do
- Supervise and coordinate custodial staff to maintain building cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards
- Inspect facilities and address maintenance needs promptly to support student and staff well-being
- Train staff on cleaning protocols, equipment operation, and safety procedures
- Schedule custodial tasks and manage work assignments across your assigned area
- Report to building leadership on maintenance status and facility concerns
- Perform hands-on custodial work as needed to support team operations
- Follow district policies and maintain accurate records of facility maintenance
What We're Looking For
- At least one year of experience working as a Custodian
- Ability to lead and communicate effectively with custodial team members
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and supplies
- Commitment to maintaining safe, healthy school facilities
- Reliable attendance and professional work ethic
Position Details
This non-exempt, full-time position offers 260 working days annually. You'll be assigned to Custodial Services within our School Plant Services department and report to your building's Principal, Building Manager, Zone Trainer, or Custodial Supervisor.
