Engineering Manager, Switchboard

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential DevOps platform organization seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their tenant management team. In this role, you will:

• Lead a full-stack team responsible for building and maintaining a customer-facing control panel for large-scale cloud environments
• Set clear technical direction and product strategy in close partnership with an assigned Product Manager
• Hire, develop, and manage a high-performing engineering team with diverse skills across frontend, backend, and reliability engineering
• Partner with Technical Team Leads to provide direction, make final decisions, and unblock the team to maintain velocity
• Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams on customer-facing interfaces, including wireframes and UI direction
• Own planning cycles with Product, including priorities, dependencies, and quarterly delivery
• Ensure fast, high-quality cross-functional execution across engineering, UX, product, and technical writing
• Drive continuous improvements in quality, security, and performance across the platform
• Enable self-service capabilities for customers while reducing manual operations at scale

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a technical engineering manager who combines deep technical expertise with strong operational instincts and a passion for building high-performing teams. You should have:

• Proven track record building and owning large-scale distributed services, with technical depth to dive into architecture and guide technical strategy
• Experience driving operational excellence and owning services running at four-nines (99.99%) SLOs
• Demonstrated success leveraging AI tooling to boost team productivity, with real lessons learned from implementation
• History of building and managing high-performing, accountable team cultures, including making difficult personnel decisions when necessary
• Ability to drive complex projects to completion without relying on a dedicated technical program manager
• Experience leading distributed and remote teams effectively
• Strong partnership skills with Product and Design functions
• Commitment to quality, security, and performance at scale
