Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential cleantech organization in Karlsruhe that is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead technical execution of complex Power-to-X and e-fuels plant projects. In this role, you will serve as the central technical authority for engineering coordination across all disciplines within an EPC/EPCM framework.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing overall technical leadership for EPC plant projects, coordinating engineering activities across process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation disciplines
  • Leading the internal engineering team and managing critical interfaces with Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Management functions
  • Overseeing external engineering partners, EPC contractors, and specialist planners—including tendering, contract management, performance oversight, and claims resolution
  • Coordinating and approving process engineering fundamentals such as PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, control philosophies, and safety concepts
  • Managing change processes, including evaluating technical, schedule, and commercial impacts of project modifications
  • Reviewing and approving technical calculations, vendor documentation, and manufacturing/installation packages
  • Providing technical support for permitting and regulatory compliance, coordinating with authorities, inspection bodies, and external subject matter experts

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • University degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Plant Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or comparable qualification
  • Several years of professional experience as a Lead Engineer or Engineering Manager in plant construction and process engineering, ideally within chemical or petrochemical sectors
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams technically within EPC/EPCM project environments
  • Independent, proactive working style with strong accountability
  • Excellent assertiveness paired with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Very good written and spoken German and English
