About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare media organization seeking an Editor in Chief to lead their German-language editorial team in Cologne. This role oversees content strategy and team leadership for one of Europe's largest professional medical communities.

Our client operates at the intersection of healthcare journalism and digital innovation, creating content that informs medical professionals and shapes industry conversations. As Chief Content Creation, you will guide a twelve-person editorial team, setting the journalistic voice and strategic direction for their news platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead the editorial team both professionally and in terms of personnel management
• Develop and execute content strategy across digital channels
• Set editorial priorities and oversee daily news coverage
• Commission and guide research, features, and investigative reporting
• Develop new content formats including social media initiatives
• Integrate AI and innovative technologies meaningfully into editorial workflows
• Ensure quality, relevance, and timeliness across all published content
• Identify emerging topics and anticipate future industry discussions
• Drive editorial innovation and challenge established routines when better approaches exist

What We're Looking For

• Multiple years of experience in digital journalism or content creation
• Proven track record leading teams, editorial departments, or media properties
• Strong instinct for identifying relevant topics and pursuing them thoroughly
• Journalistic thinking with the ability to question conventions constructively
• Experience deploying new technologies like AI to enhance editorial work
• Ability to make complex topics accessible and engaging
• Creative mindset combined with intellectual curiosity
• Fluency in German required for this role
• Healthcare knowledge is beneficial but not required—curiosity and adaptability matter more
