This is a high-impact leadership role reporting to the VP of Engineering, where you'll guide the technical direction of systems that power large-scale live event operations globally.
In this position, you'll lead engineering teams responsible for complex, business-critical platforms while partnering closely with product and design leadership. You'll balance maintaining a mature system serving major clients with driving modernization and evolving toward next-generation architecture. A key focus will be pioneering AI-native engineering practices and transforming how teams build software.
Responsibilities

- Lead the evolution of mature, business-critical systems while balancing client commitments with long-term reliability, scalability, and platform improvements
- Contribute technically when high-leverage, including through architecture reviews, technical designs, prototyping, debugging, and documentation
- Pioneer AI-native engineering by evolving how teams design, build, test, and operate software, turning successful experiments into repeatable improvements
- Partner as a peer with Product and Design leadership to shape strategy and product direction

- Participate in important client, sales, and implementation conversations where engineering context is critical
- Lead and develop Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders, creating clear ownership and strong leverage
- Build a strong engineering culture combining high ownership, technical debate, strong execution, and sustainable performance
What We're Looking For
- Experience leading multiple engineering teams and Engineering Managers in complex software organizations
- Strong technical judgment and architectural depth to work credibly with senior engineers on difficult system and platform decisions
- Willingness and ability to contribute technically through architecture, prototyping, debugging, and code when it provides the highest leverage
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development and a strong point of view on how AI changes engineering practices and the software development lifecycle
- Track record evolving mature, business-critical systems while continuing to deliver customer value
- Proven ability creating technical strategy from ambiguous product and business problems
- Experience partnering closely with senior Product and Design leaders and quickly learning complex customer domains
- Experience developing Engineering Managers and Staff+ engineers and creating leverage through other leaders
- Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, ownership, and comfort making consequential decisions with incomplete information
- Experience with ticketing, live events, commerce, payments, reservations, inventory, or similarly complex transactional systems is a plus
