Build & Release Support Engineer | CI/CD

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Build & Release Support Engineer specializing in CI/CD systems. This is a fully remote position supporting teams across the Americas time zones (8AM–5PM Pacific).

You will provide critical technical support for build, release, and continuous integration/continuous deployment systems that serve thousands of developers globally. This is a developer-facing role centered on resolving pipeline issues, build failures, and software supply chain workflows using tools like Maven, Jenkins, Docker, Spinnaker, and Artifactory.

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline technical support through Slack and ticketing systems (approximately 50/50 split)
• Triage and resolve build failures, broken pipelines, dependency issues, and configuration errors
• Troubleshoot complex problems involving Maven builds, Java compilation, Docker images, artifact repositories, Jenkins jobs, and deployment orchestration
• Manage multiple developer inquiries and support threads in parallel
• Conduct deep-dive investigations during incidents affecting build and release systems
• Perform thorough analysis before escalating issues, gathering complete context and logs
• Create and maintain documentation including FAQs, troubleshooting guides, and solution one-pagers
• Document newly resolved problems to build the team knowledge base
• Participate in weekly reviews of escalated tickets and system patterns

What We're Looking For

Required Skills and Experience:

• 2–5 years in Build/Release Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or software development
• Strong proficiency with Git version control
• Hands-on expertise with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar)
• Deep knowledge of Maven and Java build tooling
• Experience with artifact repositories such as Artifactory or Nexus
• Familiarity with deployment orchestration tools like Spinnaker
• Solid understanding of software supply chain lifecycle
• Strong Linux/Unix command-line skills
• Scripting ability in Python and/or Bash
• Container knowledge with Docker and Kubernetes
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Clear written and verbal communication abilities
• Understanding of SDLC processes

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus or Grafana
• Prior SRE or site reliability experience

This role requires: Experience specifically with CI/CD systems and strong communication skills. Candidates without CI/CD experience will not be considered.
