Director, AI Platform Engineer – Remote

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential global pharmaceutical organization seeking a Director of AI Platform Engineering. This remote position is available across multiple countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Netherlands, and India. We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who will drive the development and evolution of enterprise AI platform capabilities.

This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, AI transformation, and enterprise architecture. You will lead the technical delivery of core AI platform services that enable intelligent workflows and advanced analytics capabilities across the organization. The position offers the opportunity to shape how a major organization leverages artificial intelligence to improve outcomes and drive business growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, integration, deployment, and ongoing support of enterprise AI platform capabilities and related engineering services
• Define and implement platform architecture, engineering standards, and development practices that promote scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability
• Partner with product, data, infrastructure, security, and business teams to align platform capabilities with enterprise needs and strategic priorities
• Oversee engineering teams in building reusable platform services, tools, and components that enable agentic AI products and intelligent workflows
• Drive modernization and integration efforts to connect existing systems and processes with AI platform capabilities
• Monitor platform performance, operational health, and user feedback to identify improvements, resolve issues, and support continuous optimization
• Establish effective operating models, support processes, and governance practices to ensure consistent delivery and platform reliability
• Communicate platform priorities, delivery progress, technical risks, and investment needs to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred in business, engineering, computer science, data science, or related field
• 8+ years of AI engineering experience with a strong track record of leading product strategy, roadmap development, and delivery for complex digital, data, or AI-enabled products
• Demonstrated experience in AI and data-driven product environments, including translating business needs into scalable product solutions
• Strong cross-functional leadership skills with proven ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Innovation, Design, Data Science, Commercial, and business teams
• Experience managing and developing product managers or junior product leaders, including coaching, prioritization support, and fostering strong product management practices
• Excellent strategic, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to evaluate opportunities, make informed tradeoffs, and clearly communicate vision and outcomes
• Technical expertise in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, and generative AI technologies
• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data strategy principles
• Experience with agile methodologies and change management in enterprise environments

Pay

This is a remote position with flexible location options across multiple countries. The role does not provide relocation assistance. Domestic and international travel expectations will be defined by the hiring manager. This position is classified at a senior leadership level (Band 6 equivalent).
