About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential IT consultancy based in Germany that operates critical platforms for the public sector. Our client seeks a DevOps Engineer to join their Application Management Services team, where you'll design and operate complete deployment platforms—not just pipelines—for production customer environments.

This role offers the opportunity to work across the full stack of modern DevOps practices, from build automation to production rollouts, using Infrastructure as Code and GitOps principles. You'll take ownership of productive customer environments while implementing automation at every layer.

Location: Berlin/Bonn/Essen, Germany (hybrid work model)
Employment Type: Full-time
Language Requirements: Native-level German and good English proficiency required

Responsibilities

  • Implement and optimize automated build, test, and deployment processes across customer environments
  • Develop custom Puppet modules and automation solutions for configuration management
  • Execute production rollouts in customer environments with minimal downtime
  • Provide architectural and operational guidance to development teams
  • Analyze and resolve complex operational incidents as part of third-level support
  • Build and enhance monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using modern tooling
  • Operate and evolve CI/CD platforms supporting multiple development teams
  • Manage and develop Kubernetes platforms following GitOps principles
  • Contribute to cloud-native architecture and deployment strategies

What We're Looking For

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in Linux environments and system administration
  • Strong background in automation and Infrastructure as Code practices
  • Solid understanding of modern DevOps principles and methodologies
  • Passion for building sustainable solutions and working autonomously
  • Deep expertise in at least one of: Puppet/Bolt, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes/Cluster API, or Linux administration
  • Native-level German and good English communication skills

Technical Stack Includes:

  • CI/CD: Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven, Gradle, npm, Nexus
  • Configuration Management: Puppet, Bolt, r10k, Terraform
  • Scripting: Bash, PowerShell, Ruby
  • Container Orchestration: Kubernetes, Cluster API, ArgoCD, Docker
  • Monitoring: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana
  • Databases: PostgreSQL
  • Operating Systems: Ubuntu Linux, Windows Server

Preferred Additional Experience:

  • Operating business-critical applications in production environments
  • PostgreSQL database administration and optimization
  • Observability and monitoring platform implementation
  • Shell scripting automation (Bash or PowerShell)
  • Java/Kotlin or Spring Boot application frameworks
  • Working in regulated or security-critical environments
