Senior Accountant

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Senior Accountant to anchor their accounting function during a pivotal period of growth and transformation. This is a fully remote position.

Our client's current team handles day-to-day transactional processing efficiently, but they now require a senior-level technical expert to provide deep accounting judgment, rigorous review capabilities, and control structures. Your primary focus will not be high-volume transactional work, but rather ensuring absolute technical accuracy and audit readiness as they advance through an active audit, a major software migration, and broader process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

As Senior Accountant, you will:

• Provide Technical GAAP Expertise: Oversee fixed assets and capitalization, refine and enforce capitalization policies, manage asset disposals, evaluate impairment considerations, and ensure the fixed asset register is flawlessly maintained
• Act as Technical Reviewer: Serve as the critical second line of defense, reviewing complex transactions, contract assessments, and financing arrangements, making definitive accounting treatment decisions before they become audit findings
• Strengthen Month-End Close: Partner with leadership to strengthen accrual methodologies, enforce cut-off procedures, and reduce manual adjustments during close
• Elevate Balance Sheet Controls: Establish and enforce elevated reconciliation standards, design stronger review controls, and foster clear ownership across all key accounts
• Manage Audit Readiness: Prepare detailed audit schedules, reports, and technical documentation for review by management and external auditors, ensuring full compliance with US GAAP standards
• Drive System Migration: Actively partner in the upcoming software migration by documenting current processes, identifying internal control gaps, redesigning workflows, and ensuring complex accounting requirements are accurately mapped into the new system
• Mitigate Financial Risk: Continually assess financial risk, investigate discrepancies, and implement improvements to internal control systems to prevent errors and fraud

What We're Looking For

• Experience: Proven background as a Senior Accountant, Financial Auditor, or Assistant Controller with deep, hands-on expertise in US GAAP and complex capitalization policies
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and required experience with QuickBooks Online; experience with NetSuite is preferred, along with familiarity navigating complex accounting systems and software migrations
• Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical abilities with a proven capacity to interpret complex financial data and apply high-level accounting judgment
• Execution Excellence: Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail; ability to work independently, manage shifting timelines, and thrive in a fully remote environment
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of educating staff on policies and presenting clear findings to external auditors and leadership
