Senior Kotlin Engineer (m/f/d) – B2B Sales & Distribution team

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential European mobility technology company seeking a Senior Kotlin Engineer to join their B2B Sales & Distribution team in München, Germany. Our client is undergoing a significant backend modernization initiative and operates in an AI-native development environment with cutting-edge tooling and practices.

You will design and develop backend services that power a partner-facing ecosystem, including self-management platforms, back office portals, and AI-powered support systems. This role offers the chance to work on high-impact distributed systems serving both internal users and external partners across Europe.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services using Kotlin and Spring Boot
• Build and maintain REST APIs consumed by internal and external partners
• Participate in architectural decisions and drive technical modernization initiatives
• Improve observability, performance, and reliability of backend systems using modern monitoring tools
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes
• Work within an AI-native development environment including AI-integrated code review automation and internal tooling for engineering standards

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience with JVM languages
• At least 2 years of commercial Kotlin experience
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot
• Proven track record building and maintaining REST APIs and distributed systems
• Solid SQL knowledge and relational database design, including MySQL and PostgreSQL
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, clean code practices, and familiarity with ORM and persistence layers
• Collaborative and pragmatic mindset, comfortable working in cross-functional Agile teams
• Preferred: AWS, Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, Kafka, Terraform, LLM integrations, RAG systems, AI product development, or legacy system migration experience
