DevOps Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a DevOps Engineer to join their globally distributed team. This is a remote position based in Germany, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to a high-impact infrastructure and platform engineering function.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the DevOps and platform engineering function, including build and deployment pipelines, monitoring, infrastructure as code, and cost optimization
• Design and maintain secure, scalable CI/CD pipelines that support rapid product iterations while maintaining system stability
• Improve observability through tools like Datadog, GCP, and custom dashboards, with a focus on FinOps outcomes
• Implement and maintain FinOps governance models, including showback and chargeback frameworks to drive cost accountability across engineering teams
• Enable developer productivity by creating internal tooling, reusable modules, and simplifying infrastructure for application teams
• Define and measure SLOs to establish standards for system health and reliability
• Serve as a FinOps thought leader, collaborating with Product and Engineering to define cost-effective architectural patterns
• Shape engineering culture, DevOps best practices, and influence the long-term platform roadmap
• Work cross-functionally with product engineering, security, finance, and other teams to align technical spending with business objectives

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or software engineering roles, ideally in high-growth startup environments
• Proficiency in Python or Go, with strong software engineering fundamentals
• Proven ownership of production infrastructure and platform tooling, with strong debugging skills for complex distributed systems
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing highly secure and robust infrastructure, particularly in environments with stringent regulatory requirements
• Deep experience with Kubernetes and tools like ArgoCD, Helm, and Terraform
• Familiarity with GCP (preferred) or other major cloud providers, with deep focus on cloud cost management, reserved instances/savings plans, and cost anomaly detection
• Hands-on experience with dedicated FinOps tooling (e.g., Kubecost, AWS Cost Explorer, GCP Cloud Billing) or building custom tooling for cost allocation and reporting
• Strong experience building CI/CD pipelines and internal developer tooling from the ground up
• Hands-on experience with observability tools like Prometheus or Datadog, and participation in on-call rotation
