Orion Placement is hiring a Defense Litigation Associate Attorney in New York City, New York. This is a full-time position with a modern defense litigation firm that serves sophisticated clients across the country while maintaining a strong New York practice.

About the Role

You'll take on meaningful litigation responsibility and case management across complex defense matters. Working alongside experienced litigators, you'll develop your trial practice while building client relationships and contributing to high-stakes cases handled by the firm's national platform.

What You'll Do

• Conduct discovery—drafting requests, responses, and related correspondence
• Research and write legal memoranda, motions, and other court pleadings
• Interview witnesses and prepare clients for depositions
• Participate actively in depositions, hearings, and trial proceedings
• Prepare comprehensive trial materials including outlines, exhibits, and witness summaries
• Advise clients on litigation strategy and case development
• Collaborate with attorneys at all levels to build effective case theory

What We're Looking For

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Active bar admission in New York or admission pending
• Strong legal writing and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters with competing deadlines
• Detail-oriented approach to discovery and case management
• Intellectual curiosity and commitment to mastering complex legal issues
• Professional demeanor and genuine client-service mindset

Compensation

Salary: $93,600 – $187,200 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
