Data Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization specializing in enterprise data platforms. Our client is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their R&D team in Paris and contribute to the design and optimization of large-scale data pipelines while helping launch their first AI initiatives.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in their Paris office (75002).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-volume data ingestion and processing pipelines using Python, SQL, and Spark within a lakehouse architecture (Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake)
• Implement and optimize workflows on Databricks (Jobs, Workflows, Delta) and/or Snowflake (Warehouses, Tasks, Streams), or native cloud solutions on AWS/Azure
• Improve platform performance, reliability, and cost efficiency on AWS services including S3, Redshift, Athena/Glue, and Lambda, with strong observability and Infrastructure as Code practices
• Apply security-by-design principles, data governance, and compliance best practices across all storage, compute, and data-sharing layers
• Collaborate with Product and R&D teams to prepare data infrastructure for AI/ML use cases, including feature pipelines, data quality frameworks, and lineage tracking
• Enable secure and efficient data access through connectors, APIs, and lakehouse sharing patterns (Delta Sharing, Snowflake data sharing)

What We're Looking For

• Engineering degree or Master's in Computer Science, Data Science, or Applied Mathematics
• 7–12 years of experience in data engineering or backend data platform development
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL with hands-on experience using Spark and modern ELT/orchestration tools (dbt, Airflow)
• Production experience with Databricks and/or Snowflake
• Demonstrated experience with AWS services (S3, Glue/Athena, Redshift, Lambda) and lakehouse formats (Iceberg or Delta Lake)
• Solid understanding of data security, governance, and compliance requirements
• Proven track record in data modeling and cost management
• Foundational knowledge of AI/ML concepts with enthusiasm to contribute to early use cases
• Fluency in both English and French with excellent communication skills
• Strong ownership mindset with excellent interpersonal abilities and experience collaborating with diverse business stakeholders
• Familiarity with Salesforce data environments is a plus but not required
