Cybersecurity (Senior) Software Engineer (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential cybersecurity consulting organization based in Munich. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in secure development practices, cloud infrastructure, and application security. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge projects involving AI, web technologies, APIs, and cloud platforms while embedding security-by-design principles into every layer of the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Develop secure software and infrastructure solutions with security-by-design principles integrated from the outset
• Support clients in designing, developing, and protecting modern applications and cloud infrastructures
• Identify security risks in existing applications, cloud environments, and infrastructure configurations and recommend remediation measures
• Conduct security-focused code reviews and establish best practices for secure software development
• Collaborate with development teams, architects, infrastructure teams, and security stakeholders to design holistic secure systems
• Implement security mechanisms including authentication, authorization, encryption, and secrets management
• Integrate security checks into CI/CD pipelines and support DevSecOps transformation
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions for secure, transparent, and repeatable provisioning
• Research and evaluate new technologies and tools in application security
• Take ownership of work packages and contribute to service development and innovation

What We're Looking For

• Degree in computer science, information systems, IT security, or comparable qualification
• 2–5 years of professional experience in software engineering with a security focus
• Solid programming skills in Java, Python, TypeScript, or Go
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructures, automation, and deployment processes
• Experience with clean code principles, design patterns, and software quality practices
• Proficiency with Git version control and code review processes
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and common vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10)
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including container security
• Practical experience with infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu, or Pulumi
• Experience with automated testing (unit, integration, security) and infrastructure validation
• Familiarity with DevSecOps approaches across AWS, Azure, or GCP (preferred)
• Understanding of modern security architectures including zero trust, least privilege, and defense in depth (preferred)
• Security certifications (preferred)
• Analytical mindset with ability to assess and prioritize security risks
• Consulting or client-facing experience
• Fluency in both German and English (minimum C1 level required)
• Self-driven attitude with passion for continuous learning and shaping solutions
