About This Opportunity
We are representing a leading communications and digital consultancy with a strong presence in the German-speaking market. Our client is seeking a Client Service Director to take strategic and commercial ownership of a major, long-term public sector mandate based in the Dresden/Saxony region.
This is not a role about managing multiple small projects—it's about shaping one significant client relationship over the long term. You'll work at the intersection of client advisory, account development, and digital delivery, supported by experienced teams in project management, UX/UI, technology, and operations.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with decision-makers and key stakeholders in the public sector
- Develop early understanding of client goals, roadmaps, and challenges—anticipating needs rather than waiting for briefs
- Proactively develop new topics and consulting offerings (platform evolution, UX, technology, editorial processes, AI)
- Own revenue, contribution margin, and forecasting for the mandate
- Provide strategic oversight of major projects while supporting project managers at key milestones and escalations
- Align the core client team and bring in appropriate specialists as needed
- Identify synergies so successful solutions create value across multiple contexts
- Maintain the big-picture perspective while operational project leadership sits with project managers
What We're Looking For
- Several years of experience in a digital agency, digital consultancy, or comparable environment
- Experience working with public sector clients and understanding of government administration and public communication
- Track record advising demanding clients and working on larger website, CMS, or platform projects
- Commercial and entrepreneurial mindset with strong instinct for client needs
- Confidence engaging different stakeholders and ability to align teams without formal line management authority
- Solid technical foundation; TYPO3 knowledge advantageous but not required
- Professional-level German and English language skills
- Based in or willing to relocate to the Rhineland-Palatinate/Mainz region, as regular in-person client presence is essential
This role suits experienced Senior Consultants, Account Managers, or Senior Project Managers ready for greater strategic and commercial responsibility—you don't need to have already held full P&L ownership of a comparable major account.
