Legacy Building Solutions is hiring a Chief Estimator / Construction Manager to oversee both preconstruction and construction operations for commercial and light industrial projects based in South Haven, Wright County.
About the Role
As Chief Estimator / Construction Manager, you'll hold dual responsibility for shepherding projects from initial cost analysis through final delivery. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll drive profitability through accurate estimating while ensuring projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards across our commercial and light industrial portfolio.
What You'll Do
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, bid documents, and project proposals for commercial and light industrial construction work
- Manage all aspects of active construction projects, from mobilization through closeout
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners to ensure quality execution and timely completion
- Conduct regular site inspections and manage quality assurance to meet safety and specification standards
- Communicate project status, changes, and risks to clients and internal stakeholders
- Oversee contract administration, change orders, and claims documentation
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements across projects
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in commercial or light industrial construction estimating and project management
- Strong proficiency with estimating software and construction management systems
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent subcontractor coordination and vendor management skills
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and costs
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Professional communication and negotiation skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in construction management or related field is a plus
