Position Summary

As Bar Manager at Oliver & Bonacini in Toronto, you'll oversee daily bar operations and lead a dynamic team of bartenders and service staff. This full-time role combines hands-on bartending expertise with management responsibility, ensuring guests receive outstanding service while maintaining operational excellence, inventory control, and team engagement. You'll work closely with restaurant leadership to enhance our bar program, mentor staff, and build a culture of professionalism and hospitality.

Core Duties

  • Manage bar staff scheduling, training, and performance to maintain service standards
  • Oversee inventory management, ordering, cost controls, and supplier relationships
  • Ensure compliance with all liquor laws, health codes, and company policies
  • Create and maintain an engaging bar menu and promote signature cocktails and beverages
  • Monitor guest satisfaction, resolve service issues, and gather feedback to improve operations
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions on product knowledge and techniques
  • Manage cash handling, reconciliation, and payment systems accurately
  • Maintain bar standards for cleanliness, organisation, and safety

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of bar management or senior bartending experience in a full-service restaurant or hospitality setting
  • In-depth knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, and bar operations
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset
  • Proficiency with POS systems and basic inventory management software
  • Strong organisational and multi-tasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Food Safety and Responsible Beverage Service certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
