Our talent team is representing a confidential biopharmaceutical organization seeking an Associate Director, Field Reimbursement for the Northwest Region. This role optimizes patient access by understanding and addressing reimbursement challenges across multiple sites of care including physician offices, infusion centers, and hospital outpatient departments. The position requires deep technical expertise in "buy and bill" products and specialty therapies, with a focus on building strategic relationships with access and reimbursement stakeholders at targeted accounts.

This territory-based position covers the Northwest region: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with account leads, health systems directors, patient services, and commercial teams to support patient-focused access solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize access to products by ensuring provider accounts understand access and reimbursement dynamics
  • Proactively identify trends impacting barriers to access or reimbursement and develop solutions
  • Engage with key stakeholders including intake/authorization teams, billing compliance, finance executives (revenue cycle, revenue integrity), infusion center management, and pharmacy decision-makers
  • Identify, address, and support education to resolve outstanding claim payment issues
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to case managers on complex prior authorization and appeal cases
  • Maintain relationships with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) to optimize coverage and monitor Local and National Coverage Determinations
  • Collaborate with public policy teams on engagement strategies regarding MACs or local policy changes
  • Utilize reporting dashboards to track critical metrics and key performance indicators
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate and industry policies

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years prior pharmaceutical, biotech, or related healthcare experience
  • 3+ years of field reimbursement experience in "buy and bill" settings, preferably in rare disease, oncology, specialty products, and/or infusions/injectables
  • Established relationships with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the US payer landscape
  • Deep understanding of both medical benefit and pharmacy benefit across payer types (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, VA/DoD) and sites of care
  • Proven ability to identify key access and reimbursement barriers and design effective resolution plans
  • Exceptional professional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills necessary to interact with C-suite decision makers
  • Demonstrated ability to lead without authority in a highly collaborative matrix environment
  • Self-starter with enthusiasm for rare disease therapeutics
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Must reside in the Northwest territory or within 75 miles of the boundary and with reasonable proximity to a mid-size or larger airport
