About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential energy-tech client based in Berlin that is rethinking how electricity infrastructure operates across Europe. This is an early-stage opportunity to join a team backed by top-tier venture capital, working on AI-driven operational systems that will scale alongside rapid customer growth.

As an Applied AI engineer, you'll build the intelligent systems that allow our client to serve thousands of customers without proportionally scaling manual operations. You'll work directly with internal teams and end users to identify high-impact use cases, then design, ship, and maintain the agents and integrations that handle real operational work.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customer-facing and operations teams to map workflows and identify where AI can deliver measurable impact
• Design and build production AI agents that handle tasks such as customer onboarding, communication with external market participants, and operational process automation
• Own the full lifecycle of your systems: development, testing, deployment, monitoring, debugging, and ongoing maintenance
• Evaluate and integrate the latest models and tools, making engineering decisions about reliability, exception handling, and human-in-the-loop escalation
• Establish patterns for testing agent behavior, managing edge cases, and ensuring production readiness at scale

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience shipping and operating production software systems
• Hands-on experience building with large language models, agentic frameworks, or AI-powered automation tools
• Strong ability to connect models to APIs, databases, and external tools; evaluate outputs; and make sound architectural decisions
• Track record of turning ambiguous problems into working, well-tested code
• Comfort moving quickly while maintaining attention to quality and long-term maintainability
• Ability to take full ownership of systems after launch, including monitoring, incident response, and iteration
