About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI technology organization seeking an Applied AI Engineer with deep quantitative finance expertise for their London office. Our client works at the intersection of frontier AI capabilities and enterprise production systems, helping organizations transform cutting-edge models into reliable, high-impact solutions.

This hybrid role (3 days per week in office) offers a unique opportunity to bridge quantitative investment workflows with advanced AI implementations. You'll partner directly with researchers, engineers, and technical leaders at quantitative investment and trading firms, helping them integrate AI capabilities into their research and development processes.

Responsibilities

• Partner with quantitative investment and trading firms to identify valuable opportunities across research, data analysis, and software development workflows
• Design, build, and deploy AI systems that deliver measurable business outcomes and solve critical customer problems
• Write production-quality code to build prototypes, evaluation frameworks, reference implementations, and integration accelerators
• Make sound technical decisions spanning model selection, retrieval systems, reliability, observability, latency optimization, cost management, security, and governance
• Diagnose complex implementation challenges, reproduce failures, test hypotheses, and drive resolution of technical blockers
• Guide customers from proof-of-concept through to reliable production deployments with sustained adoption
• Lead technical workshops and hands-on sessions for quantitative researchers and engineers
• Translate deployment experience and customer feedback into clear product requirements for internal stakeholders
• Develop reusable architectures, tooling, playbooks, and technical guidance to accelerate future enterprise implementations

What We're Looking For

• Professional experience in quantitative research, quantitative development, or closely related roles, with demonstrated understanding of how quant teams operate, their research processes, and technical environments
• Practical hands-on experience with large language models, either through building AI applications or using advanced AI coding tools
• Substantial personal contributions in code, architecture, evaluation, debugging, or production engineering—not solely program management
• High proficiency in Python with strong capability in building and debugging research tools, data workflows, or software systems
• Rigorous approach to evaluating quantitative, statistical, or machine-learning systems, applicable to assessing AI outputs and workflows
• Experience navigating enterprise production requirements including integrations, reliability, observability, security, privacy, data governance, performance optimization, and cost management
• Ability to connect technical decisions to customer workflows, adoption metrics, and measurable business outcomes
• Clear communication skills across diverse audiences: hands-on engineers, technical leaders, security teams, product leaders, and executives
• High agency, strong technical judgment, and end-to-end ownership mindset in ambiguous environments
• Rapid learning capability, constructive challenge of assumptions, and collaborative approach with humility
