Applied AI Engineer – AI Finance Agent

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is building AI-native systems to transform how financial services are delivered. Our talent team is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join their remote team in Germany.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building production AI systems that automate real workflows, reduce manual processes, and improve product experiences. You'll work across customer support, operations, claims processing, and internal tooling to create scalable AI-powered solutions that deliver measurable business value.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy AI-powered workflows, assistants, agents, and automation systems for production use
• Apply AI capabilities across customer support, CRM, onboarding, claims, renewals, payments, and operational processes
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to transform manual processes into scalable AI-native systems
• Develop integrations connecting LLMs with internal data sources, APIs, documents, knowledge bases, and business systems
• Design evaluation frameworks, monitoring systems, and fallback flows to ensure AI outputs are reliable, safe, and useful
• Prototype solutions rapidly, test with end users and operators, then move successful implementations to production
• Optimize speed, quality, and consistency across workflows where AI creates genuine business impact

What We're Looking For

• Strong software engineering foundation, preferably with Python and backend systems experience
• Hands-on experience building production systems with LLM APIs, agents, RAG pipelines, or workflow automation tools
• Proven ability to integrate AI systems with real product workflows, data pipelines, and operational processes
• Sound judgment about when AI adds value versus when rule-based systems or human review are more appropriate
• Deep understanding of evaluation methodologies, accuracy metrics, latency optimization, cost management, privacy considerations, and failure mode handling
• Track record as a fast builder who can prototype, test, and ship practical systems that solve real problems
• Experience in fintech, insurance, support automation, CRM systems, or operations automation is strongly preferred
• Must be currently based in Germany with valid work authorization
• Strong English communication skills required for collaboration with global teams
