Prime is seeking an experienced Account Director – Medical Communications to join our London office on a full-time basis. This is an opportunity to lead strategic healthcare communication initiatives whilst managing key client relationships within the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector.
About the Role
As Account Director, you will own the strategy and execution of complex medical communication projects for established healthcare clients. You will chair client meetings, develop integrated campaign approaches, and ensure deliverables meet the highest regulatory and scientific standards. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine strategic thinking with tactical project management to drive results for your accounts.
What You'll Do
- Lead the development and delivery of medical communication strategies tailored to each client's therapeutic area and business objectives
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with healthcare sector clients, acting as the primary contact for account matters
- Manage budgets, timelines, and resources across multiple concurrent campaigns
- Oversee the work of junior team members, providing direction on strategic and creative elements
- Ensure all communications comply with regulatory requirements, including MHRA, EMA, and relevant healthcare codes
- Develop proposals and pitches for new business opportunities
- Collaborate with internal creative, design, and clinical teams to deliver integrated solutions
Who We're Looking For
- At least 5 years' experience in medical communications, healthcare marketing, or pharmaceutical agency roles
- Proven track record managing major accounts and leading client-facing teams
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory environment and medical communications standards
- Excellent project management and commercial awareness
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work strategically and tactically, managing detail without losing sight of the bigger picture
