Prime is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to join the operating room team at our South Elgin, Kane County facility. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RN to provide direct patient care in a dynamic surgical environment while working alongside skilled healthcare professionals.
About the Role
As an Operating Room Registered Nurse at Prime in South Elgin, you will deliver comprehensive perioperative nursing care to surgical patients throughout their operative experience. This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, collaborative clinical setting where your clinical judgment and technical expertise directly impact patient outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Assess and evaluate patients preoperatively, ensuring proper preparation and psychological support before surgery
- Monitor vital signs and patient responses throughout surgical procedures, adjusting care as needed
- Manage surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies with precision and attention to sterile technique standards
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other OR staff to maintain smooth workflow
- Document patient care activities and surgical events accurately in medical records
- Provide postoperative recovery support and discharge education to patients and families
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient operating room environment
What We're Looking For
- Current Illinois RN licensure in good standing
- Minimum one year of operating room nursing experience (OR experience preferred but not required for qualified candidates)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a surgical setting
- Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based nursing practice
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment
