About the Role
The Platform Architecture team connects Apple's hardware and software into unified systems that power every device. As a Neural Engine Performance Engineer, you'll join the Neural Engine IP architecture team, working to enhance the performance of Apple's neural processing engine. You'll collaborate across disciplines to identify optimization opportunities through both software and hardware approaches, directly impacting how efficiently machine learning workloads execute across Apple's ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Improve Neural Engine IP performance through software optimizations and hardware enhancements
- Collaborate with hardware architects, software engineers, and cross-functional teams on performance optimization
- Analyze performance bottlenecks and develop targeted optimization strategies
- Evaluate hardware architecture decisions and their impact on neural engine efficiency
- Design and implement performance measurements and benchmarking frameworks
- Contribute to technical documentation and architectural recommendations
Who We're Looking For
- Experience with computer architecture, systems performance, or hardware design optimization
- Strong understanding of performance optimization across complex systems
- Familiarity with hardware description languages, low-level software, or systems-level programming
- Knowledge of machine learning inference and neural network fundamentals
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across hardware and software teams
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field; equivalent professional experience accepted
